My first attempt at using period materials. Completed on goat parchment with period pigments tempered with gum arabic. Gold leaf and milled gold also used. Based on an exemplar from the Visconti Hours, 15th Century. Received a red ribbon and won the Scribal Arts Category for 2008. Made as a present for my nephew for his first birthday.

Pendant made with mica and silver wire. Based on finds in Birka, Sweden. 10th Century. Completed using Slingenstich technique. Received a red ribbon and won the Metalworking category in the Novice Pentathalon.

Bestial Hell-mouth Illumination. English, 13th Century. Completed with gouache paints constituted with water, modern adhesive, and gold leaf on 140# hot press paper. Received a green ribbon and won the Scribal Arts category in the Novice Pentathalon.
